Church hurt is the emotional, spiritual, and relational pain experienced when harm occurs within a faith community that was expected to provide care, safety, guidance, and love. In the Black Church context, church hurt often cuts deeper because the church hashistorically functioned as family, refuge, and identity, not just a place of worship.
