JESUS MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

“...All...were astonished at the catch of fish...” Luke 5:9

This text opens with Jesus calling His first Disciples in Galilee. “...He said to Simon, ‘Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.’ Simon answered, ‘Master, we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything. But because YOU say so, I will let down the nets.’ When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus' knees and said, ‘Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!’ For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch... Then Jesus said to Simon, ‘Don't be afraid; from now on you will catch men.’ So they...left everything and followed Him'’ (vv. 4-11 NIV).

This script is filled with several life-changing benefits when you allow the presence of Jesus in your life: 1) Jesus will come to where you in life and help you; 2) When what you are doing is not working, Jesus will show you a better way; 3) Even though it may not make sense at the moment, do what Jesus tells you to do; 4) The success Jesus has in mind for you is so much greater than what you can even imagine; 5) Your existing systems and ways of doing things may not be able to handle what He has in mind, so be willing to change how you do things; 6) When you realize what the Lord has in mind for you, be willing to leave your old ways and follow Him.
