HOW TO EXPERIENCE A BREAKTHROUGH

ENCOURAGING WORDS FROM THE HEART OF THE PASTOR………

“...They called the name of that place Baal Perazim.” 1 Chronicles 14:11

The Bible says: “The Philistines...made a raid on the Valley of Rephaim. And David inquired of God saying, ‘Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?’ The Lord said to him, ‘Go up, for I will deliver them into your hand.’ So they went up to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there. Then David said, ‘God has broken through my enemies by my hand like a breakthrough of water.’ Therefore they called the name of that place Baal Perazim [which means ‘breaking through’]” (I Chronicles 14:9-11 NKJV).

If you are reading this devotional and happen to be in need for a breakthrough in your life, then I have some good news for you….. Do what David did.  David wisely reminded himself that “the Lord had made him king” (1 Chronicles 14:2). Saints of God you must remember Who called you, and Whose spirit lives within you. God called David, and yes, God has called you too. When you know that you know that God has called you, you won't let the enemy put you down or push you around. Nor will you give up or give in because God has called you and you receive your marching orders from the Lord.

The second thing David did was that he enquired of the Lord, “Shall I go up against the Philistines?” (1 Chronicles 14:10 NKJV). What is it that has you up all night long? Have you talked it over with the Lord? Understand this child of God, God may not always respond to your need, but He ALWAYS responds to your obedience. When you've obeyed Him, you will win every time.

Finally, David experienced a mighty breakthrough because he gave all the glory to God. The text says, “God has broken through my enemies” (v. 11 NKJV).  You see, God (Not David) was the one who defeated David’s enemies. David gave the glory and acknowledgement of victory to God. No matter what it is that is troubling you, only God has the power to prevail over your trials and tribulations. Sometimes God will do it for you, other times He will do it through you. So, are you in need of a breakthrough? Then, do what David did.
