“When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, “Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.” Luke 13: 12 NIV

The Bible says: “As Jesus was teaching in a synagogue, he saw a woman who had been ...bent double for eighteen years and was unable to stand up straight... He called her over and said, ‘Dear woman, you are healed’...Then He touched her, and instantly she could stand straight. How she praised God! But the leader in charge of the synagogue was indignant that Jesus had healed her on the Sabbath day” (Luke 13 vv. 10- 14 NLT). There are 2 significant things concerning this woman:

1) She had a long-term problem. It was a visible condition everybody could see. But many of the people we meet have problems within and cannot be seen with the naked eye. Sometimes they are situations they've wrestled with for years. Some people are dealing with painful issues that causes them to “act out” what is going on inside them. It is an extremely sensitive situation, but they need to be handled with care and compassion.

2) The Church she went to could not straighten her up. She had a burden that nobody, but Jesus could lift but Jesus. How many times have we tried to medicate our pain through our own power without success. We have tried using wrong relationships, or mood-altering substances to help us get through the day. Many times, we have used relationships like a security blanket because we are afraid to let go of the relationship, even though the relationship is part of the problem. What she needed was a touch from Jesus. Today turn to Jesus, by Whose stripes we are healed!
